I am Brittny ‘Bee’ Johnson, a lifelong birth lover! At age 7 I witnessed the birth of my first nephew, and I have immersed myself in the birth world ever since. I have been attending births as a doula since 2008 and teaching childbirth classes since 2017.
I have always loved the magic of birth, but after giving birth myself I learned the power that it has. When you are supported, respected, encouraged and loved through the process, birth can be an initiation to your most powerful self. Supporting births is my life’s work, and helping families navigate the modern landscape of birth is deeply rewarding. I believe you can still cross the threshold of birth with reverence, trust and intention, despite all the modernization the process has developed in the past hundred years.
I have respect and appreciation for the well timed intervention, alongside a deep trust in the body to birth. I’ve seen completely undisturbed births, and highly medicalized interventions, and I believe that we can continue to honor and center the human giving birth in every situation. “Healthy mom, healthy baby” is not the goal in my eyes, it is the absolute bare minimum we will accept. My goal is for you to look back on your birth as your most glorious triumph.
